Gloria Norman Dancers Reunion

Former students of the Gloria Norman School of Dance will meet to renew old friendships and reminisce about the fiery redhead who taught them to trip the light fantastic. Who knows - a few might even dance a few steps they remember. A camera crew will be on hand to interview dancers for inclusion in a documentary.The event will include tours of the Norman Studios property and other Old Arlington historic sites.
Film Florida Legends Award Gala

San Francisco Silent Film Festival Screening of The Flying Ace

The San Francisco Silent Film Festival runs July 15-18. This year's event features a screening of The Flying Ace, with original piano accompaniment by world renowned musician and NSSFM friend Donald Sosin. This original play by Stage Aurora Theatrical Co. founder and Broadway veteran Darryl Reuben Hall explores the relationship between two of silent film's most prolific visionaries, Richard Norman and Oscar Micheaux, widely considered the father of black film. Norman Studios Halloween Masquerade: This party hearkens back to the way Americans originally celebrated Halloween. Adult-only parties featured elaborate costumes and feasts. Features will include a Halloween / film memorabilia display from the collection of historian Herman McEachin, a costume contest and a silent film screening. October 2010
Gloria Norman Tribute Gala: For many locals, the Norman Studios property is best known as the place where they learned performance dance from Gloria Norman, know as much for her fiery red hair and matching personality as for her skill as a dancer and instructor. Features include the screening of a documentary on Gloria and the property's dance history, appearances by Gloria's dancers, a dance performance and contest with the winner receiving a scholarship to the local dance school of her or his choice.
